Dear ICS members,

In 2027, our Society turns 60. As Chair of the Fellows Guild, I want to share where our anniversary planning stands and how you can be part of it.

Since our first call for involvement, a dedicated 60th Anniversary Sub-Committee has been established, working with the Fellows Guild and ICS Council to shape a programme worthy of six decades of the profession in Ireland. Work will formally get under way in September, but the response so far has been encouraging. Members are already coming forward with ideas, memories and offers to help.

Over the coming months, watch out for more news on:

• A Founders and Elders initiative, recognising surviving founders and long-serving members whose experience spans the evolution of Irish computing
• Recorded interviews and round-table discussions with former Presidents, Fellows and long-standing members
• A permanent online history of the Society, built from photographs, newsletters, publications and memorabilia gathered along the way

We need you. If you have artefacts, photographs, old newsletters or event programmes tucked away, or if you have recollections of the Society’s early years or its role in your own career, we want to hear from you. You do not need to have been there at the beginning. Every contribution helps build a fuller, richer picture of our shared history.

We are also looking for volunteers across interviewing, research, writing, digital archiving and event support.
