This is the first webinar in a series focused on aligning Enterprise Architecture with IT Service Management. This initiative is a joint effort by The Open Group and itSMF International.

The Enterprise Architecture (EA) function and IT Service Management (ITSM) often operate in separate “worlds” within the IT-organization. Many issues in IT management can be traced back to the disconnection between these two functions. Architects follow their own practices, such as TOGAF and ArchiMate, and use specialized tools (an EA-system) to manage the business and IT architecture. Meanwhile, ITSM practitioners adhere to frameworks like ITIL 4 and utilize tools such as a IT Service Management system and the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

This webinar is jointly organised by The Open Group and itSMF International for itSMF members.

In August 2024, the EU AI Act entered into force across all 27 EU Member States, giving businesses 2 years to prepare for the enforcement of most of its provisions in 2026. As the first legal worldwide framework regulating the use of AI, businesses will be faced with both opportunities and challenges they must consider.

Back in 2018, the GDPR aimed to unify laws across the EU, whilst the AI Act looks to address the explosion in AI and regulate the development and use of this innovative technology in Europe. Businesses are looking to risk and privacy professionals to address this new regulation, much like with GDPR, and these pros can leverage their prior experiences in regulatory preparation and implementation.

The GDPR provided businesses two years to implement this unifying European and globally impacting regulation within their privacy management programs. Now the two-year countdown for the AI act on is on, businesses will be similarly expected to apply these provisions to their own AI programs through AI impact assessments, measuring risk and understanding how third parties are using AI.

An introduction to the key aspects of web accessibility and inclusive design, relevant to web developers.

Our training helps your team deliver accessible and inclusive products and services first time, every time, by embedding best practice in your processes and offering valuable insights to every member of your teams.

We’ll show you some of the most common reasons that an app or website will fail the standard accessibility tests, and we’ll also show you how to avoid them. Accessible development is a broad subject and this course will focus on looking briefly at ARIA and the accessibility tree, the name, role and value of custom controls, ways to hide content and how to correctly use common ARIA attributes.

By thinking about accessibility and inclusion from the start, you can prevent costly fixes at the end of a project, and also improve the user experience for everyone, not just your disabled customers.

In 2023, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) selected ‘the Designation and Position of Data Protection Officers’ for its Coordinated Enforcement Action initiative. The report, published in January 2024, is based on the findings of an extensive EU-wide survey that was responded to by data controllers across all EU Member States. In particular, the report sought to understand the challenges faced by DPOs across Europe, including, insufficient resources allocated to DPOs, insufficient expert knowledge and training of DPOs and risks of conflicts of interests. If you are a DPO and you want to know what DPOs are talking about, this webinar will give you the highlights and key takeaways from this important survey.

Sustainability is a hot topic right now – rightly so. This has also informed more discussions about the long-term viability of how we work. In IT Service Management there are often many changes and re-structures and product replacements – why is this? Why do we keep reinventing what we do rather than working on maintaining consistency and quality?

This session looks at what sustainability actually means in ITSM and provides some clear guidance on how to focus and maintain a sustainable way of working and demonstrating value.

The US is back in the fold … again. On 10 July, the European Commission adopted its adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (EU DPF). Transfers of personal data to the US can once more have a reliable lawful basis, but what does it all mean for DPOs?

Do we still need to worry about transfer impact assessments, supplementary measures and Standard Contractual Clauses?

And what about the future? Will the EU-US DPF be a lasting solution, or could it once more end up being challenged in the European courts? Have our problems been solved, or are we looking at the spectre of Schrems III?
