What is NIS2?

Network and Information Systems (NIS) are part of everyday life. Our physical and digital worlds have become much smaller, and technological development has expanded the cyber threat landscape. This has led to the need for a coordinated and innovative response from all levels.

The Network and Information Systems 2 (NIS2) Directive is designed to enhance the security of information systems and boost network resilience, achieving a high common level of cybersecurity across the EU. This means robust practices, policies, and procedures to protect IT infrastructure and services from external threats, malicious activities, and threat actors need to be implemented. Importantly, under NIS2, companies must disclose network and computer system incidents beyond data breaches.

Compliance with NIS2 is not optional, but it can bring major benefits to your organisation.

Technology-based data breaches and related cyber incidents continue to increase in scale, effectiveness, and frequency of occurrence. This poses varying levels of threat to the functioning of network systems, with the potential to impact economic activity, profitability, and the confidence of your end-users and customers. Proactive cybersecurity preparedness is absolutely critical for organisations to be able to function, let alone thrive in our digital world.

With good cybersecurity preparedness, your organisation can harness the economic, social, and sustainable benefits of digitalisation.
